ABOUT THIS COURSE

This brand-new course is packed with practical advice for teachers who are preparing students for the challenges they will face when applying to a medical school.  The course covers applications for medicine, dentistry and veterinary science in the UK and abroad. Teachers will receive guidance on identifying suitable candidates, the main elements of the application process, an understanding of the UCAT test, constructing a personal statement and advice on interview techniques.

Margaret Royal was Head of Biology at a boys grammar school and has over 30 years’ experience of teaching KS4 and A level Biology. Margaret has authored many textbooks, including AQA A-Level workbooks and AQA GCSE practical workbooks as well as co-authoring the Dynamic Learning On-Line resources. She has been an author and editor for Boardworks A-Level materials.  As the current Biology editor (and author) for Curriculum Press, she is continually creating new A-Level resources for UK and International students. She has written and presented many CPD courses including ‘How to Get Students Into Medical School’ and “Preparing Students for the UCAT”. She runs UCAT workshops for students and teachers in schools. She was a lay interviewer for UCL Medical School and, as both her children are doctors, she has an all-round understanding of a career in medicine.
